In the fall of 2024, Mintara, located atop Burnaby Mountain, will replace its open patio with a new, enclosed one featuring a timber frame and glass roof system.
Mintara was acquired by the City in 2019. The interior was renovated that same year, transforming the space into a desirable and unique restaurant and special events venue. In 2024, the City is planning to expand the outdoor space by building an enclosed patio, allowing it to be operable in all seasons.
The design of the new patio aims to harmonize with the existing architecture and the nearby Playground of The Gods.
The new patio, encompassing 2,000 sq. ft. and offering 50 seats in addition to the 120 seats available indoors will be ideal for both dining and special events.
What’s happening now
Council approved the detailed design at the March 11, 2024 Council meeting, and construction is anticipated to start in 2024.
