Deer Lake Park Home to Concerts & Culinary Fare
Deer Lake Park welcomes a host of world-class musicians in a series of concerts and events that also presents some remarkable cuisine from local food trucks. Enjoy some dynamic food and music in this idyllic outdoor setting.
From savoury souvlaki to artisanal pizza, gourmet burgers, a beer garden and more, Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park is home to some of Metro Vancouver’s liveliest concerts and events over the coming months – including Vance Joy (June 30), the Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival with headliner Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats (August 11) and Portugal. The Man (September 1).
Rock out at the Deer Lake Park’s Beer Garden at these concerts where – depending on the event – you’ll find an array of beer, wine, ciders and specialty drinks. Featured beer, wine and ciders are $8.50 per drink, and specialty cocktails are available for $11.50 each. (Two pieces of valid ID required for all alcohol purchases.)

Rock out at this outdoor concert with indie folk band at Deer Lake Park on May 26. Founded in 2006 by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, the band’s name derives from the French “bon hiver”– which translates to “good winter” and was inspired by a greeting from the critically-acclaimed 1990s television show Northern Exposure, set in Cicely, Alaska.
Over the past several years, Bon Iver has received critical acclaim and earned a number of awards – including Grammy awards for “Best New Artist” and “Best Alternative Music Album” for their album titled Bon Iver, Bon Iver. The band released their third album 22, A Million to further critical acclaim in 2016.
Check out the musical stylings of Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy on June 30 at Deer Lake Park. Likely best known for his chart-topping single “Riptide,” Vance’s debut 2014 album dream your life away made headway around the world – breaking number one in Australia, number two here in Canada and the top 20 in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
With his sophomore album – titled Nation of Two – dropping on February 23, Vance hits the touring circuit again, and makes a one-night appearance at in the heart of Burnaby at Deer Lake Park with guests Scott Helman and Mondo Cozmo.
Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival (BBRF) with headliner Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats
A highlight of the summer, the annual Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival hits Deer Lake Park for a day of music, fun and food on Saturday, August 11 with headliner Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
Likely best known for their catchy, foot-tapping, chart-topping hit “S.O.B.” – these world-class musicians creatively fuse folk, rock & roll and vintage rhythm & blues. The result is a distinct sound that’s a little bit Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley with the band’s own blues-y twist. The band’s self-titled 2015 album soared the charts, elevating their stature and producing a number of hits.

Portugal. The Man
Portugal. The Man brings their unique brand of psychedelic rock to Deer Lake Park on the evening of September 1. Released in the summer of 2017, the band’s latest album, Woodstock, has earned resounding success since it first debuted. Though this Alaskan band might be best known for their hit single “Feel It Still,” their newest album speaks with heart and optimism about “the crumbling world around them.”
Portugal. The Man is joined at Deer Lake Park by Canadian Indie rock band Broken Social Scene.
